Lake County Indiana - Electrical Training Center

The Lake County Electrical Apprenticeship and Training Center provides instruction for
apprentices and journeymen who work in the Electrical (Inside Wireman) and Video, Voice &
Data (Installer-Technician) industries. Our nationally supported state of the art curriculum
prepares individuals for construction, service, and maintenance work in the residential,
commercial, and industrial sectors. Training consists of theoretical and proficiency based
instruction for all segments of our marketplace. Apprentices can achieve journeyman status
after successfully completing a 5 year program for Inside Wiremen or a 3 year program for
Installer-Technicians (Video, Voice & Data). Advanced specialized courses are also available to
qualified journeymen in such fields as Supervision/Project Management, Fiber Optics,
Photovoltaic, High Voltage Splicing/Testing, Industrial Automation, Instrumentation, Safety
(OSHA 10/30, NFPA 70E, CPR, First Aid). It is our mission to develop the best-trained most
highly motivated, customer-centered workforce in the country.

Online Class Registration

Online Class Registration is here!

We have added two new features to the web site. On the left column you will notice a box that contains links to these features.

The Journeyman Class Registration link will take you to a page where you can view scheduled classes. These classes can be sorted by topic, date, or simply list all of them on one list if that is easier for you to read. Once you choose a class you would like to participate in, simply add it to your cart and continue filling out your information. In general you will see a fee of $0.00 for members. Some classes are open for IBEW members from outside of our local. In those cases there is a fee associated with the class. Classes will be filled on a first come first served basis so make sure you watch for your class to be posted.

Once you are signed up for a class you can monitor your status in that class in the Journeyman Services module. The login you created when signing up for a class will be used in this module as well. In this module you can view your class history as well as print a certificate of completion. This may be used in some cases (CPR and OSHA Training for example) to prove completion of a class while you await official credentials.
